On June 25-26, 2024 | In significant step towards enhancing fire safety awareness and preparedness, the University of Baguio Risk Management Office, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection – CAR, recently hosted a comprehensive Fire Volunteer Brigade Training for UB employees. This two-day training aimed to equip participants with essential firefighting skills and knowledge.
The first day of the training took place at Centennial Hall, where participants were introduced to various aspects of fire safety through engaging sessions.
Key Topics of the Day 1 Training:
1. Classes of Fire and Fire Extinguishers
Participants learned about different fire classes (A, B, C, D, and K) and the appropriate fire extinguishers for each type.
2. Fire Behavior
The session covered the science behind fire, including how fires start, spread, and can be controlled, emphasizing the fire triangle concept.
3. Fire Operation Strategies and Tactics
An overview of various firefighting strategies, as offensive and defensive operations, and the tactics used to implement these strategies.
4. Fire Safety Tips
Tips on preventive measures, proper storage of flammable materials, and the importance of fire drills and evacuation plans.
The Fire Volunteer Brigade Training for UB employees was a resounding success, providing valuable fire safety education and practical firefighting experience. To the collaboration between the University of Baguio Risk Management Office and Bureau of Fire Protection – CAR, participants are now better prepared to handle fire emergencies, ensuring a safer environment for the entire UB community.
