UB Entrepreneurs Move Up to DICT Finals

The University of Baguio secured five slots in the Cordillera Administrative Region for the 8th Philippine Startup Challenge being held by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

In a commendable display of academic excellence and entrepreneurship, four college groups and one group from the UB Science High School were selected as finalists out of 149 applications and 56 mentor registrations to represent the University of Baguio

Team AJALEN, composed of members Glenn Vincent Baday, Ranjana Galangco, and Aaron Lecourt with their mentor Ellen Halover are pitching their startup ReQuest. Team CareDerly with team members Christian Junio, Angelica Pangilinan, and Ebby Jade Noble along with their mentor Cherrie Almazan are pitching their startup namesake, CareDerly. Team SpinGo, also pitching a startup by the same name, is composed of members Ryle Fuentes, Shedd Chloe Pugyao, and Rick Jone Villanueva alongside mentor Hydi Toyeng. Team UniHomes, also sharing a name with their startup, will be represented by team members Ronjay Acorda, Lyndsy Mae Soriano, and Caesar Klidge Galutera alongside mentor Erna-Kristi Martinez.

Team TouriMommies from the University of Baguio Science High School also qualified for the finals with their startup TouriDad.

The competition launched in congruence with the celebration of National ICT Month. With the aim of developing young entrepreneurs, the competition hopes to nurture ideas and innovation alongside the use of technology to create a startup business. 

The five finalists will be moving on to a live pitching session that will be held at the DICT Training Center in Saint Joseph Village, Baguio City this October 13, 2023.
