UB Pens MOA with NNC for the SUN Movement

            The University of Baguio joined the Regional Ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the City Lights Hotel, Baguio City for the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement for Academe, Business, Civil Society Organizations and Youth Sector. The university was represented by Ms. Teresa N. Villanueva, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, and Evelyn B. Sebastian, a faculty of the same school, as the focal person.

            The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) network which includes the academe, business, civil society organizations, and youth sectors gathered to seal their collaboration in addressing the challenges of malnutrition in the region through partnership known as the SUN movement. The MOA Signing was the first MOA signing among all networks in the country. The SUN Movement, with the tagline engage, inspire, invest, primarily addresses SDG 2 but also contributes in achieving other SDGs like SDG 1 and 3.

Happening on the same day was the designation of SUN network convener where Benguet State University (BSU) was appointed as the Chairperson for the academe sector and University of Baguio (UB) as the Vice – Chairperson. Present during the said ceremony were twenty-three (23) representatives from various institutions such as University of Baguio, Kalinga State University, Ifugao State University, Benguet State University, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, University of Abra, the Nutritionist – Dietitian Association of the Philippine – Baguio-Benguet Chapter, Breastfeeding Care Center of the North, Baguio City Nutrition Multi – Purpose Cooperative, Filipino – Japanese Foundation Incorporated, CAR Media Educators on Nutrition, Cordillera Network, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinator Association – CAR, Cordillera Barangay Nutrition Federation Incorporated, National Youth Commission, Cordillera Empowered Youth Advocate, and Philippine Association of Nutrition – Beta-Zeta Chapter.
