The 30th Anniversary of the Panagbenga Festival was not only a showcase of flowers and culture but also a celebration of community spirit. Through Handog ng Panagbenga sa Pamilya Baguio, the Panagbenga Foundation once again highlighted the festival’s heart: service to the people of Baguio

The University of Baguio (UB), a steadfast partner in this initiative, joined the festivities with the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) leading engaging activities such as free face painting and buzz games. Children lined up eagerly to have their faces painted with colorful designs, while families gathered around to cheer participants in the interactive games.

“It’s always fun to see the kids smiling after their face is painted. It’s a small gesture, but it makes them feel part of the celebration,” shared Jeff Juarez, a UB student volunteer.

The initiative resonates strongly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being—promoting joy, recreation, and mental wellness through family-centered activities. SDG 4: Quality Education—extending learning beyond the classroom by encouraging creativity, teamwork, and civic responsibility. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities—strengthening civic pride and inclusivity in Baguio’s cultural identity. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals—showcasing collaboration between the Panagbenga Foundation, academic institutions, and the local community.

As the Panagbenga Festival marks three decades of tradition, UB School of Engineering and Architecture’s continued support underscores the enduring partnership between education and community. The laughter of children, the smiles of families, and the dedication of volunteers painted a vivid picture of what the festival truly stands for: unity, service, and shared joy.
