The University of Baguio Science High School’s Student Parliamentary Government (SPG) has achieved official accreditation as a Clubs for UNESCO Philippines member. This recognition was conferred on November 29, 2024, during the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Applicants for the Clubs for UNESCO PH must undergo a five-level accreditation

process, in which the SPG has received remarkable feedback from panel members and interviewers. As a result of their successful completion of accreditation requirements, they have been invited to join the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO from November 29 to December 1, 2024, to mark their membership in the organization.

The Y4U assembly is an annual event organized by the National Coordinating Body of Clubs for UNESCO in the Philippines, Inc. (NCBUCP), aimed at engaging youth leaders and advocates in service by updating them on pressing global and local issues. During this year’s assembly, thirteen Student Parliamentary Government (SPG) members received their Certificate of Accreditation, alongside their club advisers, Mr. Dean Aguado and Ms. Jerrel Panayo.

During the assembly, delegates of the SPG actively participated in various activities that

highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving UNESCO objectives. For instance, they gained valuable insights from listening to paper presentations on people, the planet, peace, prosperity, and partnership, in various breakout sessions.

The SPG is committed to furthering UNESCO’s values by implementing programs and projects that promote peace, culture, and sustainability. It now positions itself to expand partnerships and participate in initiatives that align with the goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Through these efforts, the SPG aims to contribute significantly to building a culture of peace and advancing the recognition of cultural diversity as a cornerstone of sustainable societies.
