In line with its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement, the University of Baguio’s School of Engineering and Architecture (UB SEA) successfully conducted its first Professional Learning Community (PLC) 2025 Training with the theme “Strengthening Outcomes-Based Education Towards Quality Assurance.” Held at the UB Centennial Hall on June 25, 2025, the training brought together faculty members, program heads, and academic leaders in a shared mission of refining instructional practices and aligning program outcomes with national and international standards.
The PLC initiative is a cornerstone of the institution’s strategic approach to faculty development. The training focused on deepening the implementation of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE)—a learner-centered approach that emphasizes the attainment of clearly defined learning outcomes as a measure of educational quality.
UB SEA PLC training

Dr. Antonio Mangaliag, the dean of the School of Teacher’s Education and Liberal Arts, was the speaker and emphasized that the training is to strengthen the faculty’s capabilities in curriculum mapping, course outcome assessment, instructional delivery, and the integration of program-level accreditation requirements. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring vertical alignment across course objectives, program outcomes (POs), and institutional learning outcomes (ILOs), which are essential in preparing graduates to meet industry expectations. He also said that PLC training serves as a dynamic platform for faculty to collectively examine teaching practices, reflect on student performance, and align their efforts with the ever-evolving demands of local and global industries
One of the highlights of the training was the presentation and critiquing of the syllabus per department. It aimed at addressing gaps in course delivery, student assessment, and outcome alignment. As UB SEA continues to embrace innovation and excellence in education, the 2025 PLC training stands as a testament to the institution’s proactive stance on quality assurance. With faculty members now more empowered and aligned with the principles of OBE, the School of Engineering and Architecture moves forward with renewed confidence in delivering transformative, standards-based education to its learners.
This activity falls in line with UB’s pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4: Quality Education. Through continuous management and faculty training efforts and adherence to international standards, SEA ensures that it provides exceptional education to all of its students.
