The University of Baguio’s School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety reaffirms its commitment to providing a dynamic learning environment for aspiring criminologists and forensic science professionals. To further this commitment, the school recently hosted a DILG Tri-Bureau Recruitment Process and Career Pathway Orientation Seminar for graduating students.
Held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the FGB Hall, the seminar, themed “Bridging Academia and Industry: Career Pathing Workshop for Criminology and Forensic Science Graduates,” provided invaluable insights into career opportunities within the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Tri-Bureau.
The event featured expert speakers from the DILG’s Tri-Bureau, each providing valuable insights into their respective agencies. The Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit-Cordillera, led by PCOL Godfrey C. Buslotan, explained the application process for aspiring DILG officers. Representatives from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Cordillera Administrative Region, led by CINSP John Wayland M. Lapon, provided a comprehensive overview of careers within the BJMP. Finally, SFO2 Leo A. Mendoza from the Bureau of Fire Protection – Cordillera Administrative Region shared his expertise on career paths within the fire service.
The seminar aimed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the DILG. Participants gained a clear understanding of the application processes and procedures, ensuring they were well-prepared to navigate the recruitment process. Speakers outlined the essential qualifications and competencies required for various roles within the Tri-Bureau, emphasizing the skills and attributes needed to excel. Furthermore, the seminar highlighted opportunities for career advancement, providing attendees with a roadmap for professional growth and development within their chosen agencies.
