Demonstrating its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, the University of Baguio integrates sustainability principles into its campus development projects. This commitment is exemplified through the completion and inauguration of the Legacy Building on January 15, 2024, an academic facility designed to promote creativity, collaboration, and environmental stewardship.
The Legacy Building stands as a model of sustainable construction and responsible urban development, adhering to both local and global standards for environmentally conscious building practices. In full compliance with City Ordinance Article VIII, Section 65, the University of Baguio ensures that for every new building erected, an equivalent number of trees are planted within the construction site or in designated green areas such as watersheds and parks. This ordinance reflects Baguio City’s commitment to preserving its ecological balance and reinforces the university’s alignment with sustainable city planning.

To fulfill this requirement, the Campus Planning and Development Office (CPDO) spearheaded a tree-planting activity as part of the Legacy Building’s construction process. This initiative not only complies with legal environmental standards but also reflects UB’s deeper institutional ethos of sustainability—balancing infrastructural progress with ecological preservation.

The Legacy Building features modern classrooms, collaborative spaces, and advanced learning facilities, designed to promote intellectual growth while minimizing environmental impact. Through thoughtful design, compliance with green policies, and ongoing environmental engagement, the University of Baguio continues to champion a campus environment that harmonizes innovation with sustainability.
By ensuring that every new development contributes positively to both the learning community and the natural environment, the University of Baguio reaffirms its dedication to building a resilient and sustainable future, one that embodies the true spirit of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
