Bridging Hearts and Communities: University of Baguio Science High School’s Impactful Outreach at Survival Camp 2026

Written by Angelo V. Manis

The University of Baguio Science High School successfully conducted a meaningful community outreach during its Survival Camp 2026 held on March 25–27 at Sitio Palawan, Rizal, Tubao, La Union. Spearheaded by School Principal Dr. Thea Suaco, alongside dedicated teachers, staff, students, and the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), the initiative exemplified the institution’s commitment to service beyond the classroom.

The outreach centered on the distribution of essential goods to 25 selected families in the community, ensuring that support reached those who needed it most. Carefully prepared donation packages containing basic necessities were personally handed over, creating a direct and heartfelt connection between the school and the beneficiaries. More than the act of giving, the initiative fostered empathy, gratitude, and a deeper awareness among students of the realities faced by many Filipino families.

This outreach was grounded in the belief that education must go beyond academics and translate into meaningful social action. By engaging in this experience, students developed a stronger sense of responsibility and compassion—qualities essential in shaping future leaders and nation-builders.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the activity contributed to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The collaboration among school leaders, families, and the community highlighted how collective efforts can create a tangible impact. Ultimately, the outreach served as a reminder that even simple acts of giving can spark lasting change in the lives of others.
