The University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES) secured awards across multiple competition categories during the ASMEPPS Regional Marathon of Skills and Talents, held online on January 24, 2026. Participants from Kindergarten to Grade 6 demonstrated outstanding performance, earning recognitions across various academic, artistic, and performance-based events.

UBLES learners received recognitions in coloring, poem delivery, sci-modeling, storytelling, singing, declamation, drawing, dance for the environment, on-the-spot poster making, photojournalism, news writing, feature writing, and science creative writing, reflecting the learners’ diverse talents and strong engagement in both creative and intellectual disciplines.

The regional competition featured activities in science, writing, visual arts, and stage performance, providing learners with opportunities to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Through these platforms, UBLES learners were able to showcase their abilities and apply their learning in meaningful and competitive contexts, resulting in multiple podium finishes across the various categories.

Following their impressive regional performance, UBLES successfully qualified for the National Marathon of Skills and Talents, scheduled on February 20–21, 2026, at Easter College in Baguio City. Participating learners and their coaches are currently preparing for the national-level competition as they aim to represent the school and the region with excellence.

The event was conducted under the theme “Empowering Future Innovators: Strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education for a Sustainable World,” highlighting ASMEPPS’ commitment to promoting STEM education and nurturing future-ready learners equipped with essential 21st-century competencies.

The achievements of UBLES learners strongly reflect the school’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The activity primarily aligns with SDG 4 – Quality Education, as it promotes inclusive and equitable learning opportunities that allow learners to develop academic knowledge, creativity, and critical thinking skills. By participating in competitions that integrate science, communication, and the arts, learners are encouraged to apply classroom learning in real-world and performance-based contexts.

The event also supports SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by helping learners develop skills such as creativity, communication, innovation, and collaboration—competencies that are essential for future careers and responsible participation in the workforce. Early exposure to these skills prepares learners to become productive and capable contributors to society.

In addition, the competition contributes to SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, particularly through STEM-focused activities such as science modeling and science creative writing, which encourage innovation, inquiry, and problem-solving. These experiences help nurture young learners’ interest in science, technology, and innovation.

The participation of learners from various grade levels also reflects the principles of SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, as the competition provides equal opportunities for young learners to showcase their talents and abilities regardless of their background. Through inclusive participation, learners are given platforms to express their ideas and creativity.

Finally, the event demonstrates alignment with SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, as it brings together schools, educators, organizations, and institutions such as ASMEPPS to collaboratively promote educational development and student engagement. These partnerships create meaningful opportunities for learners to grow academically and creatively while strengthening collaboration within the educational community.

Through their achievements in the ASMEPPS Regional Marathon of Skills and Talents, UBLES learners continue to exemplify excellence, creativity, and determination—reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
