The University of Baguio strengthens its advocacy for safe spaces and an inclusive learning environment for the diverse student population by supporting psychoeducation activities for the non-teaching employees. The first of its training series was held last June 13, 2025, at the University of Baguio Smart AVR and was attended by personnel from the Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD), Medical and Dental Clinic (MDC), and Human Resource Management (HRMC) office.

The activity primarily sought to provide the practical knowledge and approaches in handling students with special needs. Further, the importance of reminding one’s self that students with special needs are more than their diagnosis and key to an inclusive learning environment is the collaboration between the home, school and other professionals were some of the points emphasized by the invited speaker, Ms. Onada Pauline D. Macaraeg, RPm, RGC, RBT, BCBA.

After the informative presentation, the activity culminated with an oath to be committed allies in promoting an inclusive learning environment. With this, the attending non-teaching personnel have set in motion the undertaking that they are ready and able to serve the UBians from any minority group or special population.
