Forging Transformational Leaders: The YouthLead–University of Baguio Partnership

The partnership between YouthLead Philippines and the University of Baguio began in 2014, when YouthLead organized the first-ever Philippine I Transform Young Leaders Convention in Baguio City. During this inaugural convention, our students were invited to participate, our performing arts groups showcased their talents, and our color guards took part in both the opening and closing ceremonies. In addition, UB student volunteers were tapped to serve as staffers, contributing to the success of the event.

In 2023, this collaboration was further strengthened and formally recognized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the University of Baguio, officially sealing our partnership. This alliance was established with the shared goal of training UBian leaders to become transformational young leaders who champion meaningful change.

Since then, UB has continuously sent student leaders as participants and staffers to YouthLead’s conventions. Many of these UBians who have served as staffers have distinguished themselves as innovative student leaders—conceptualizing projects that contribute not only to the university but also to their communities. They have also become valuable partners of the Office of Student Affairs, extending their support in organizing student-centered activities. Records further show that almost all, if not all, UB students who joined YouthLead as staffers have graduated with leadership awards, underscoring the impact of this partnership on their development.

YouthLead’s activities are year-round. This coming November 2025, they will once again host the Philippine I Transform Young Leaders Convention (PITYLC) at Teachers’ Camp, with more than a hundred delegates expected to commit themselves to becoming transformative leaders. Looking ahead, they are also set to organize the Trail Camp in March 2026, in which UB students will actively participate.

This partnership also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By providing opportunities for leadership training, volunteerism, and meaningful youth engagement, the collaboration between YouthLead and the University of Baguio ensures that student leaders are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become catalysts of change in their communities and beyond.

As such, the University of Baguio reaffirms its continuing commitment to this partnership with YouthLead, recognizing it as a vital platform in molding UBian leaders who are globally competitive, socially responsible, and dedicated to championing positive transformation. Together, we will remain steadfast in cultivating young leaders who embody the spirit of service and innovation, ensuring that the impact of this collaboration will ripple through generations.
