In a heartwarming display of community collaboration and compassion, faculty members and students from the University of Baguio School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety, led by their Dean, Dr. Charesma Grace Lud-ayen, joined hands with the Baguio City Jail-Male Dorm, Montañosa Executives Lady Eagles Club, and NALIBNOS ti LA UNION Lady Eagles Club for an impactful outreach program. The mission: to provide essential support to the indigent students of Pinget Elementary School.

On November 25, 2023, the University of Baguio team, armed with school fees, snack packs, hygiene kits, school supplies, and slippers, descended upon Pinget Elementary School. The collaborative effort aimed to alleviate the financial burdens faced by underprivileged students and contribute to their overall well-being.

Dr. Lud-ayen, a driving force behind this initiative, expressed her commitment to community service. “Education is a powerful tool for empowerment. We believe that by supporting these young minds, we are investing in the future of our community and fostering positive change,” she said.

The outreach program not only provided tangible resources but also facilitated a meaningful seminar titled “Breaking the Cycle: Uniting Parents, Students, and Teachers Against Violence Towards Women and Children.” This seminar, attended by students, parents, and teachers alike, addressed the critical issue of violence and sought to empower the community to collectively combat it.

The University of Baguio team, together with their collaborators, demonstrated the importance of holistic community development. They intend to make a long-lasting difference in the lives of the Pinget Elementary School students by attending to both material needs and educational endeavors.

The event concluded with heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the recipients, emphasizing the significance of such outreach programs in fostering a sense of unity and hope within the community. The collaborative efforts of the University of Baguio and its partners stand as a shining example of how education and compassion can break barriers and create positive change in society.
