With the changing landscape of the work environment, employability has become all the more emphasized among graduating students. As such, graduates are expected to have the relevant skills and knowledge to efficiently carry out their job and handle workplace challenges. Relative to this, the University of Baguio, through the Center for Counseling and Student Development office, facilitated Career and Placement activities anchored on the theme: Subscribed to CCSD L-Series: #BeJobReady.

A pre-employment webinar served as a jump-off career activity which was held last October 5, 2024 (Saturday) from 8:00 to 12:00 NN via zoom video conferencing platform. The activity featured distinguished speakers who talked about #Being Mentally Resilient in the Workplace; #Becoming Globally Competitive: Updates on Global Employment Trends; and #Be Career-Ready UBians. Apart from the topics, there were also three alumni testimonies which highlighted their thoughts on transitioning from being a student to being an employee.

Following the pre-employment webinar was the series of face-to-face mock interviews held from October 10 to October 18,2024. The mock interviews subjected the students to the job application process, from the submission of relevant documents: cover letter and curriculum vitae or personal data sheet up to an actual experience of how a job interview goes. This way, the students’ communication skills and ability to manage job interview jitters were tested.

Given these, the career and placement activities provided by the University of Baguio reflects its commitment to fostering the employability competencies of the UBian students, making them competitive in the local and international work environment.
