The School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) hosted its General Assembly on August 15, 2024, at the UB Gymnasium. This event served as a unifying platform for students, faculty, and staff to connect, collaborate, and gain clarity for the upcoming academic year. Designed to align objectives, strengthen relationships, and introduce essential updates, policies, and resources, it aimed to inspire and prepare the SBAA community for a successful and enriching academic journey.
The assembly showcased a diverse program designed to inform and engage the SBAA community, with highlights including department updates, student resources, and motivational presentations.
Department Policies and Operations
SBAA Dean Mr. John Balanquit, a Certified Public Accountant with a Master’s in Business Administration, opened the event with an insightful presentation on department policies and academic operations. His address provided a detailed overview of expectations, academic guidelines, and the support mechanisms available to students. This segment emphasized SBAA’s dedication to fostering a structured and supportive learning environment that empowers students to achieve their goals.
Student Services Orientation
Students were introduced to a wide array of resources and services designed to support their academic and personal development at the University of Baguio. These resources equip students with the tools and guidance necessary to navigate their university journey with confidence and ease. By providing access to these services, the orientation empowers students to maximize their potential and achieve success. Furthermore, it fosters a sense of belonging within the university community, ensuring students are well-informed about opportunities to enrich their academic experience, address challenges, and thrive both academically and personally.

International On-the-Job Training Updates
A segment highlighted the experiences of an SBAA student who participated in the International On-the-Job Training program, offering valuable insights into the opportunities and benefits of gaining professional exposure abroad. This presentation aimed to inspire and encourage students to explore international OJT as a pathway for personal and career development while showcasing the program’s role in broadening global perspectives and fostering cultural exchange.
Introduction of SBAA Faculty, Staff, and Organizations
Faculty and staff of SBAA were formally introduced to help students, particularly newcomers, become familiar with the professors and staff who will guide and support them throughout their academic journey. This introduction also included the student leaders from various organizations, putting faces to the names of those who play a vital role in shaping the SBAA community. By emphasizing the roles of mentors and peers, students were encouraged to actively engage with these key figures, cultivating a culture of support, shared growth, and academic excellence.

Workplan, Intramurals, and Merchandise
A clear roadmap of goals and strategies for the year was unveiled by the Student Body of SBAA, emphasizing academic excellence, extracurricular development, and overall growth. This presentation highlighted upcoming initiatives and encouraged active student engagement in achieving the department’s vision. Excitement heightened with the announcement of intramurals, inspiring students to participate and showcase their teamwork and athletic abilities. Adding to the enthusiasm was the introduction of SBAA merchandise and uniform polo shirts, offering students a meaningful way to express their school pride and solidarity. Collectively, these updates reinforced the department’s commitment to cultivating a dynamic and enriching academic environment.
Call for Leadership and Collaboration
A call to action concluded the assembly, inviting students to volunteer for various working committees within the department. This recruitment initiative aimed to empower students to take on leadership roles, hone their skills, and actively contribute to the success of SBAA’s events and programs. By stepping forward, students were given the opportunity to be more deeply involved in the department’s activities, fostering a sense of responsibility, collaboration, and community engagement.
